Navdeep Jassal, MD, is double board-certified in interventional pain medicine and physical medicine and rehabilitation and sees patients at Florida Pain Medicine in Wesley Chapel, Riverview, Tampa, Zephyrhills, and Brandon, Florida. He completed his Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency training at NSLIJHS/Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine Program in Great Neck, New York. He was elected by his fellow residents and the Departmental Faculty as Chief Resident for the 2013-2014 academic year. Dr. Jassal then completed a prestigious ACGME approved Interventional Pain Medicine fellowship at the University of South Florida.
His pain medicine subspecialty training extends his physiatric skill-set to offer a multidisciplinary approach to complex pain management. This includes treatment of cancer, neurological and musculoskeletal pain using medications, tailored physical therapy prescriptions, fluoroscopically/ultrasound/CT guided interventional pain and spine procedures. His procedures include implantable spinal cord stimulators, radiofrequency ablation, intrathecal drug delivery systems, kyphoplasty, and complex headache/facial pain management.
Dr. Jassal completed his Internal Medicine Internship training at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, New Jersey. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Ross University of Medicine and received his bachelor's degree in General Biology from University of California San Diego in La Jolla, California. Dr. Jassal currently serves as clinical associate professor and faculty for the pain medicine fellowship/department of Neurology at the University of South Florida and lectures to the current USF resident/fellows in their pain lecture series. Dr. Jassal has authored numerous original articles, abstracts in peer-reviewed journals and several textbook chapters including chapters within the leading texts in both the Interventional Pain Medicine and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation literature. He has presented at numerous national academic conferences and has placed 1st place at the Annual North Shore-LIJ Health System academic day and the American Spinal Injury Association Annual Scientific Meeting and 3rd prize at the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin National Research Competition. Dr. Jassal was among a select group of nationally recognized scholarship recipients honored by the American Pain Society at its national conference in Tampa, Florida. He was also selected for the prestigious Doximity Fellowship. Dr, Jassal is responsible for curating the most relevant medical literature in Pain Medicine circulated to over 50% of US physicians, while serving as a Doximity liaison providing product advice and strategic guidance to the company.
Dr. Jassal is an active member of several professional societies, including national and regional organizations in Pain Medicine and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He is cognizant of developments on the forefront for future treatment protocols in both pharmaceuticals and medical devices to provide for his patients at Florida Pain Medicine. He continues to actively attend additional training in kyphoplasty, radiofrequency nerve ablation, advancements in spinal cord stimulator placement and intrathecal pain pump implantation.
In his spare time, Dr. Jassal is an automotive enthusiast, enjoys spending time with his family, running, traveling and teaching residents/fellows at the University of South Florida.
