Dr. Bryan Thomas is board eligible in both Pain Medicine and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He completed his Medical training at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine, with a concentration in Innovation and Entrepreneurship. He was integral in helping to develop a Business of Medicine Bootcamp which trained medical students with practical business skills. Dr. Thomas completed Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency training at the University of South Florida. He was elected by his fellow residents and the Departmental Faculty as Chief Resident for the 2016-2017 academic year. Dr. Thomas then completed a prestigious ACGME approved Interventional Pain Medicine fellowship at the University of South Florida.
His pain medicine subspecialty training extends his physiatric skill-set to offer a multidisciplinary approach to complex pain management. This includes treatment of cancer, neurological and musculoskeletal pain using medications, tailored physical therapy prescriptions, fluoroscopically/ultrasound/CT guided interventional pain and spine procedures. His procedures include implantable spinal cord stimulators, radiofrequency ablation, intrathecal drug delivery systems, kyphoplasty, and complex headache/facial pain management.
Dr. Thomas feels strongly about the benefits and independence associated with knowledge and strives to impart this onto his patients. His training in leadership and education began early in life earning the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America within 3 years of joining. His love for education continued as a High School Chemistry teacher at Tampa Bay Technical High School and ultimately matured as a Doctoring III course instructor for University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine while completing his Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency. Dr. Thomas plans to continue his Career as an educator at the University of South Florida Pain Medicine Fellowship and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency.
Dr. Thomas is an active member of several professional societies, including national and regional organizations in Pain Medicine and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He is cognizant of developments on the forefront for future treatment protocols in both pharmaceuticals and medical devices to provide for his patients at Florida Pain Medicine. He continues to actively attend additional training in kyphoplasty, radiofrequency nerve ablation, advancements in spinal cord stimulator placement and intrathecal pain pump implantation.
Dr. Thomas completed his bachelors in Biomedical Science with minors in Biophysics and Psychology Magna Cum Laude at the University of South Florida.
In his spare time, Dr. Thomas raises chickens for fresh organic free range eggs, maintains hydroponic and subsistence farming systems. He enjoys spending time with his family, advanced scuba diving, playing soccer, traveling and teaching residents/fellows at the University of South Florida.
